ANTICIPATED AGRO FORESTRY
Agroforestry is the spatial or temporal combination of trees, crops or animals, with biological, social and economic synergies leading to higher productivity, reduced risks, a more stable income for local populations, and positive environmental impacts
ANNATTO
The Annatto tree is a long-term crop. It is a dried seed derived from Bixa Orellana L. Annatto plant which is mostly grown in tropical countries and is primarily used as a condiment and food coloring in the food industry and also has applications in the textile and cosmetic industries.
Annatto is used to impart red or orange color into the food products, depending upon the form of usage. It develops into a larger tree when planted in deeper and more fertile soil, rich in organic matter in Uganda, the trees take about two years to start production and are in full production after 5 years for the next 50 years.
The awareness about the health benefits of annatto is rising among various consumers, especially in the Americas and Europe Some of the most impressive health benefits of annatto include its ability to promote healthy digestion, strengthen bones, prevent neural tube defects, promote healing, lower fevers, boost eye health, eliminate headaches, reduce nausea, and protect against respiratory distress.
MORINGA
Moringa has several health trends which makes it increasingly popular on the European market. Consumers are increasingly interested in new and exotic products, especially if products that have a traditional use for health benefits. A changing understanding among consumers of what it means to be healthy is driving consumption of Moringa.
Moringa is nutrient-packed, fights free radicals, fights inflammation, helps reduce some diabetes symptoms, protects the cardiovascular system, supports brain health, protects the liver and It enhances wound healing among others.
Moringa powder can be added to your smoothie or drunk as a tea. The powder has a mild flavor; so it makes for a light moringa tea with a slightly earthy taste.
CASHEW
The Cashew tree is a tropical evergreen tree that produces a cashew seed and cashew apple.
The international cashew market knows an increasing demand over the past years. It has a life span of over 100 years and is drought resistant.
Cashew is one of the most important export crops in the tropics and it plays a substantial role in foreign exchange earnings, employment, health benefits, animal feeds, and environmental protection.
As an agro-forestry tree cashew contributes to protection of the environment through stabilization and conservation of soils and modification of the micro climate.
Cashews prevent blood disease, help in protecting the eye, they are good for skin and help in weight loss among others benefits.
MACADAMIA
Macadamia is still rare in Uganda as not many people have embraced the nut tree. But if one invested in growing it, he or she can earn a lot from it.
It helps in preventing heart related diseases, lowers cholesterol, improves brain and nervous system, helps control kidney disease, prevents anemia, prevents cancer and maintains low blood pressure among other health benefits.
TAMARIND
Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) is a leguminous tree in the family Fabaceae indigenous to tropical Africa. The tamarind tree produces pod-like fruit that contains an edible pulp used in cuisines around the world. Other uses of the pulp include traditional medicine and metal polish. The wood can be used for woodworking, and tamarind seed oil can be extracted from the seeds. Because of tamarind’s many uses, it is cultivated around the world in tropical and subtropical zones.
Tamarind aids in digestion, helps to manage diabetes, promotes proper blood circulation in the body, boosts the immune system, is beneficial in improving nerve functions, helps control blood pressure and cholesterol, and gives relief from joint pain, inflammation, and gout.
MARULA
Marula is a medium sized tree belonging to the Brachystegia genus. The fruits of this tree are the main source for “Amarula Cream Liqueur” and other alcoholic beverages.
The Marula fruits are used for preparing alcoholic drinks like wines and beers. The fruits are also used for making delicious jam, jelly and juice, while the nuts make good snacks and are used in many preparations for the purpose of adding a special flavor to food.
The fruits are good for various parts of the body including the skin, bones, and muscles. With rich protein and mineral contents, the nuts also have many health benefits to offer like relieving heartburn and treatment of several diseases including dysentery, diarrhea, and malaria
AVOCADO
The Avocado tree is an evergreen tree that attains heights of 40 to 80 feet and has many branches. The fruit may be round, pear shaped, or oblong, and the skin of the fruit may vary in texture and color.
Unlike many fruits that typically have a sweet or acidic taste, avocados have a smooth, buttery consistency and a rich flavor. They are used as a salad fruit, and can also be used in sandwich spreads and ice cream.
Oil extracted from avocados can be used for cooking, skin care products, or for hair conditioners and makeup bases.
Powdered avocado can fight cancer, lowers cholesterol levels, lowers blood pressure, has anti-diabetic effects, has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial effects, helps with diarrhea and bladder problems, helps the skin against sun damage, can treat aches and pains and may be useful for contraception
 
Work Opportunity
In partnership with Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works strategy in Uganda, Amfri Farms Ltd will create over 2,352 decent work opportunities in Pineapple, Apple Banana, Passion Fruits and Gooseberry value-chain for the youth in the Districts of Nakaseke, Lwengo, Luwero, Kayunga, Bugerere, Masaka, Budaka and Mubende through the Lead Firm Structure approach. The project will lead to the creation of 2352 direct jobs for young people where each shall manage 2.5 acres of crops with an intercrop, for a period of three year
Training and Recruitments
Our production Team started trainings in the Districts of Budaka, Mubende and Nakaseke. the turn up of the youth interested in Organic farming has been high, which shows that the youth are interested in Organic farming, Many of them are MALE, however we face many challenges of the elders not supporting these youths by giving them land as Capital to startup a living. We also face a Culture Challenges, of a GIRL child not supported at-all. Amfri is here to also give a chance to the girl child too. We call upon the Parents, Cultural Leaders, Elders, District Leaders, Female Councilors and Youth Councilors to help the community with mindset change training, teaching the benefits of supporting also the girl child in farming . ‘LETS SUPPORT A GIRL CHILD TOO’

ANNATTO (Available at our Demeter Farm).
Annatto is the seed or extract of the achiote tree, which is indigenous to Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The seeds and pulp have been used for hundreds of years for a variety of purposes and are used heavily in Latin America as a dye, medicine, and an ingredient in many foods.
